Anse Marie-Louise (off-reef day anchorage)
4° 47.0′ S · 55° 31.8′ E · approximate
The bay next to Anse Forbans near Mahé's southern tip, a usually quiet 425 m beach behind a protecting reef with very good snorkelling from October to May.
Practical
Approximate: placed about 650 m off the beach, east of the Anse Marie-Louise bay point (OpenStreetMap); no published yacht anchorage or waypoint. Seyvillas: a reef in front of the bay shelters it from the open sea; shallow, calm water; best October to May when the sea is calmest and visibility best; rougher June to September; seagrass June to September. The headland at the south end of the bay gives a little shelter from the south, but this is an exposed coast in the SE trades: day stop in calm or NW-monsoon conditions only, anchoring on sand outside the reef by eye in good light. Restaurant at the beach; Allamanda resort restaurants about 1.1 km away.
Best for
Quiet snorkelling bay on a calm day
Season
Oct-May; rougher Jun-Sep
