Anse Intendance (No Anchoring: Surf Beach)
4° 47.2′ S · 55° 29.8′ E
A hazard marker, not an anchorage: Anse Intendance has no outer reef, so the open Indian Ocean swell breaks directly on the beach and locals surf it.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM bay label (in water). Do not anchor or try to land a dinghy here: with no reef the bottom drops quickly and big waves hit the beach in the SE trades (May-September), making swimming dangerous (Seyvillas, Wikipedia). It is also an important hawksbill turtle nesting beach (roughly 1 September to 31 March), so leave it undisturbed. Visit by road from an anchorage elsewhere; the nearest stop is Anse Takamaka in settled weather only.
