Parks Bay (Shaw Island)
48° 33.8′ N · 122° 58.8′ W
A quiet, wooded bay on the south-west side of Shaw Island, across San Juan Channel from Friday Harbor. The land and water around it are a University of Washington biological preserve, so it stays natural and peaceful.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM bay. Good anchorage for small craft in 6-8 fathoms (36-48 ft, 11-15 m), soft bottom; the head of the bay is foul with submerged piles (Coast Pilot). The bay is a UW Friday Harbor Labs marine preserve: no taking of fish or shellfish, and no landing on preserve land. Point George marks the west side of the entrance.
