Cabbage Island Buoys (Reef Harbour)
48° 47.8′ N · 123° 5.1′ W
Reef Harbour lies between Cabbage and Tumbo islands at the outer edge of the Gulf Islands, with sandy beaches, clear water and open views across the Strait of Georgia. It is a favourite buoy stop on the way to or from Boundary Pass.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM bay. 10 Parks Canada buoys. Parks Canada buoys cost C$24 a night, charged after 3 pm and paid at the red self-registration vault ashore. One boat per buoy and no rafting. Size guide: up to 15 m (50 ft) in winds under 30 knots, up to 12 m (40 ft) in 30-37 knots. Approach carefully: reefs surround the harbour, so use chart 3441/3477 and enter in good light. Exposed to the north and west and to wash in strong winds from the Strait of Georgia. Since April 15, 2025 the Cabbage Island campground and day-use areas are closed until further notice; only the toilets, the payment kiosk and the buoys stay open. Cabbage Island has been listed as a CBSA reporting site for NEXUS boaters in the past; do not rely on it without checking with CBSA.
