Saturna Lamb Barbecue (Winter Cove)
48° 48.6′ N · 123° 11.5′ W · approximate
Saturna's Canada Day lamb barbecue has run since 1950 and is the island's main fundraiser, with lamb roasted over open fires, music and games on the park field at Winter Cove. Many guests arrive by boat.
Practical
Position is approximate (Hunter Field, Winter Cove park). 2026 was held on Wednesday July 1: grounds 10 am to 4:30 pm, lamb served from 2 pm; adult meal C$30, children under 12 C$15; cash only on site (ATM available). Anchoring in Winter Cove is first come, first served and the cove can hold over 100 boats that day; the approach is tricky at low tide. Dinghy space on the docks fills fast; a welcome booth stores life jackets. Shuttles run from Lyall Harbour. Confirm the next year's date on the event site.
