Port Browning (North Pender)
48° 46.2′ N · 123° 15.4′ W
A large, open bay on the east side of North Pender with plenty of room to anchor and a marina, pub and shopping centre close by. It is linked to Bedwell Harbour by the narrow Pender Canal.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM bay. Roomy anchorage; check depths on chart 3477 and allow swing room. Exposed to easterlies and southeasterlies coming in from Plumper Sound. Land the dinghy at Port Browning Marina. The Driftwood Centre (groceries, bakery, liquor, pharmacy) is a walk of about 1 km uphill. The Pender Canal to Bedwell Harbour is narrow and shallow with a low bridge; check clearance and tide before you try it. A CRD public float is also listed in the bay.
