Bedwell Harbour Customs Dock (South Pender)
48° 44.9′ N · 123° 13.7′ W · approximate
The seasonal CBSA marine port of entry beside Poets Cove Resort, the most popular place to clear into Canada for boats coming up from the San Juans. In season, officers staff the office above the dock.
Practical
Position is approximate (customs float next to Poets Cove Marina). Historically open to the public May 1 to September 30; in 2019 the hours were 9 am to 5 pm in May and September and 8 am to 8 pm from mid-May to early September. CBSA has not published current hours in a form I could reach; check the CBSA directory or call 1-800-461-9999 before you cross. NEXUS boaters can use it year-round. The skipper goes up to the phones on the customs office wall and calls in; everyone else stays aboard until cleared. You may get a clearance number or be told to wait for an inspection. Have passports, boat papers and a declaration of goods ready. Outside the season, clear at Port Sidney, Van Isle or Victoria instead. Note the Pender vessel restricted zone (June 1 to November 30) lies off the south-west shore of North Pender, outside Bedwell Harbour.
