Ditaytayan Island Anchorage

11° 43.9′ N · 120° 6.1′ E

A long, thin, uninhabited island whose lee bay stays mirror-calm in the NE monsoon, with a sand spit, a trail across to the far beach and the only night light a cell tower on distant Culion.

Practical

Hackingfamily: 11 43.89N 120 06.13E in 52 ft (16 m) sand. The reef protrudes west a long way, so be careful coming from the north; a 20 ft (7 m) reef lies west of the anchorage and is hard to see: stay on the north side on approach (one spot may come up to about 15 ft, 5 m). Do not drift too far west over coral. Protected from all north and east winds, exposed to SW and W. Cruising World (2025): anchored clear of the coral in 30+ ft of visible water; mirror-calm for days, but when the wind clocks and freshens, swell wraps around the end of the island and the bay turns uncomfortable. Cell: Globe 4G, Smart 2G. Dinghy in early to beat the lunchtime tour boats.

Best for

The favourite island of the group for many cruisers
