Santuario Islas de la Bahía de Chamela
19° 31.9′ N · 105° 5.3′ W · approximate
Bahía de Chamela holds a scatter of islands and islets — Pajarera, Cocinas, Colorada, San Agustín, San Pedro, San Andrés, Negrita, Novillos and others — protected as a nature sanctuary. Boobies, pelicans and other seabirds nest and roost here, and turtles and reef fish fill the shallows.
Practical
Position approximate: set on Isla San Pedro (OpenStreetMap) in the south-central part of the group. Spanish Wikipedia lists the islands Pasavera, Cocina, Novillo, San Pedro, Colorado, Negrita, San Agustín and San Andrés. Treat the whole group as a protected area: no take, no anchoring on coral or rock, no landing among nesting birds. Most islands have rocky shores and surge; daytime visits in settled weather only.
Best for
Seabirds, turtles and a day of island-hopping by dinghy
