San Pedrito Commercial Harbor (Port of Manzanillo)

19° 4.2′ N · 104° 17.6′ W

Manzanillo's inner commercial port is dredged out of the old Laguna de San Pedrito at the southeast end of Bahía de Manzanillo - Mexico's busiest container port and the place where cruise ships and freighters, not yachts, berth.

Practical

Position: GeoNames 'Laguna San Pedrito' (Colima). The port is run by the federal port authority (formerly API Manzanillo, now ASIPONA); ship channels lie at the southeast end of the bay where large cruise ships enter (Wikivoyage). Yachts do not berth or anchor in the commercial harbor: anchor at Las Hadas or Santiago (La Boquita) and travel to the Capitanía de Puerto, immigration and customs offices downtown by bus or taxi - see 'Manzanillo Port of Entry'. Keep well clear of the entrance channel and ship traffic, and monitor VHF 16 when crossing the approach. The LNG terminal (2012) and iron-ore exports add industrial traffic around the south end of the bay.
