Manzanillo Sailfish Tournament

Manzanillo has hosted national and international sportfishing tournaments since 1957; the Torneo Internacional de Pesca Deportiva fills the downtown waterfront each November with crews chasing marlin, sailfish, tuna and dorado.

Position: the Explanada del Pez Vela (sailfish statue plaza) on the downtown waterfront (OpenStreetMap). The 72nd international tournament was scheduled for November 27-29, 2025 (registration and captains' meeting on the 27th, fishing on the 28th and 29th), with more than 800,000 pesos in prizes and Plaza Juárez in the historic center as the meeting point (Visit México). A separate national tournament is also held. Expect a busy harbor and fishing fleets at dawn on tournament days. Check current dates with the organizers.
