Playa Cuachalalate (Isla Grande)

17° 40.6′ N · 101° 39.2′ W

The busiest of Isla Ixtapa's four beaches, facing the mainland: water-toy rentals, banana boats and a row of palapa restaurants serving fresh fish and cold beer.

Practical

Position from OpenStreetMap. This is the beach in front of the anchorage and the easiest dinghy landing. Palapas will also send platters out to anchored yachts. Playa Varadero (calmer water) and Playa Sacrificio (no restaurant, small hill with an ocean view) are a short walk away. Quiet after the last water taxi leaves in the evening.

Best for

Lunch ashore and beach time from the Isla Grande anchorage
