Ixtapa Marina

17° 40.1′ N · 101° 37.0′ W

Puerto Ixtapa, the big resort marina at the south end of Ixtapa beach, about 5 nm by water from Zihuatanejo Bay: the only full-service slip option between Manzanillo and Acapulco.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap outline of the Puerto Ixtapa basin; a navigation light stands at the entrance (OSM way 36236252). Cruisers rate the staff as accommodating, English-speaking and helpful, and note easy public transport into Zihuatanejo (noforeignland, reviews current to 2025). The entrance channel shoals: reviewers advise a mid-tide entry, and only for shallow-draft boats; deep-draft boats should call ahead for current depths. The marina can help with clearance paperwork. American crocodiles live in the estuaries and lagoons around Ixtapa; do not swim in the marina. Rates: verify locally. Marina website: VHF 14; berths up to 120 ft; channel depth 6.8 ft (October 2014 update); single- and three-phase power, water and security; rates by length on request (ixtapa@jarestate.com). PEMEX fuel dock in the marina: see 'Marina Ixtapa Fuel Dock (PEMEX)'.
