Pérula Village

19° 35.4′ N · 105° 7.5′ W

A dusty, friendly fishing village at the north end of Bahía de Chamela where a few blocks of dirt streets hold everything a cruiser needs for a top-up: tiendas, a produce market on the main square and a surprisingly well-stocked ferretería.

Practical

Tiendas sell tomatoes, eggs, beer and wine; the larger mercado on the main square has fresh vegetables and wine at lower prices than the tiendas. The hardware store sold 30 ft of polypropylene line, two screw-eyes and two carabiners for 60 pesos in January 2020 (verify locally). There is also tire repair, and a beachfront RV park (Punta Perula Trailer Park). A 2020 cruiser report notes the village was hit by Hurricane Patricia, which came ashore on this coast near Cuixmala in October 2015. Small stores keep Mexican hours; bring pesos.

Best for

Fresh produce, beer and small hardware within walking distance of the beach
