Las Monas Pinnacles (Isla Isabela)
21° 51.0′ N · 105° 52.7′ W · approximate
Two tall, twisted volcanic rock pillars standing off Isla Isabela's east shore, the island's signature landmark. The clear water around them is good for snorkeling among reef fish and rays.
Practical
Snorkel from the east anchorage by dinghy in calm conditions. A 2010 cruiser saw a spotted eagle ray glide over the chain while diving the anchor here. The bottom drops steeply and is mostly rock, so don't try to anchor right off the pillars. Keep clear of fishing pangas working the area. Coordinate is derived from the OpenStreetMap islet outlines, between the pillars and the main island. Park rules: don't land or beach the dinghy on Playa de Las Monas (CONANP, prohibited), stay 2 m from coral, and never stand on or touch it. Snorkelers should wear a life jacket per the CONANP-reviewed WILDCOAST guide (2022).
