Isla Isabela Crater Lake Lookout

21° 50.8′ N · 105° 53.0′ W

A short, steep scramble up one of Isla Isabela's volcanic peaks to look down on the green crater lake at its center, with the anchorages and the surrounding sea spread out below.

Practical

Trails start from the south-side fish camp at Bahía Tiburoneros. CONANP rules (DOF, 2006) cap trail groups at 8 including the guide, with an hour between groups. Trails in the restricted zone are to be walked only with park-authorized guides, and smoking on the trails is prohibited. Wear proper shoes, as the volcanic rock is loose and sharp. There's no shade on the summit, so carry water and go early. Keep to the trails because birds nest everywhere. Coordinate is the crater lake (OpenStreetMap).
