Las Ánimas Snorkel

20° 30.5′ N · 105° 20.6′ W

The rocky headlands at each end of Playa Las Ánimas give clear water and reef fish right beside a beach lined with seafood palapas, so you can snorkel, then walk up for lunch.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM polygon for Playa Las Ánimas (the snorkelling is off the rocks at either end of the beach). Banderas News (July 2024) lists diving among the beach's activities alongside banana boats and volleyball; gentle waves on settled days. Very busy with water taxis from Boca de Tomatlán and Los Muertos pier and with banana boats from late morning: snorkel early and stay well clear of the landing area, towing a float. See 'Las Ánimas Day Anchorage' for the lunch hook (open to the afternoon north-northwest thermal and to swell).

Best for

Snorkel-and-lunch stop on the south shore
