Isla Granito Sea Lion Colony (Refugio)
29° 33.9′ N · 113° 31.8′ W · approximate
Swim face to face with California sea lions off Isla Granito at Puerto Refugio — heart-jumping, playful and wild.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate, north of the Refugio anchorages (Isla Granito is one of the three islets flanking the bay; exact position not in the sources). Most go by dinghy; you can also day-anchor on the south side of the island. Give large males plenty of room, especially in summer breeding season; let the animals choose to approach.
