Isla Carmen Bighorn Sheep Reserve

Isla Carmen has hosted a desert bighorn sheep (borrego cimarrón) restoration program since 1995; the old salt-company lodge at Salinas now hosts hunters of the stocked herd.

Coordinate is the island's GeoNames point. The salt company Salinas del Pacífico partnered with Organización Vida Silvestre in 1996 to protect the island's flora and fauna (Spanish Wikipedia).The island is private: do not hike off authorised trails, and never approach or follow animals.
