Eagle's Head (Isla de Lobos) Dive Site
23° 13.3′ N · 106° 28.1′ W · approximate
The rocky south tip of Isla de Lobos, the outermost of Mazatlán's three islands. It's named by local divemasters as one of the main island dive sites, with more exposure and more fish than the inside coves.
Practical
Guided boat dive only, reached by the Golden Zone operators. Rocky bottom with urchins, starfish and reef fish. Expect the same Mazatlán limits as the other island sites: low and variable visibility, a thermocline near 30 ft, and conditions that deteriorate as the afternoon wind builds. No mooring buoys were found documented, so don't anchor a yacht on the reef. The tip is fully open to the Pacific swell, so dive it only on calm days. Coordinate is derived from the southernmost point of the OpenStreetMap Isla de Lobos outline (way 245854506), just off the tip, and is not surveyed.
