Bahía Santa Marta Anchorage

25° 27.1′ N · 111° 1.4′ W · approximate

An open bay off Rancho Santa Marta, roughly halfway between Los Gatos and Agua Verde, used as a stopping place when the coast gets rough.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: OpenStreetMap's 'Bahía Santa Marta' bay node (GeoNames 25.45137, -111.02222), about 340 m off the mapped shore and checked in-water against the OpenStreetMap coastline; no anchor waypoint was found—sound in. s/v Exit (2025) ducked in here after turning back from a passage north when 30-plus knots and steep chop built off the Agua Verde point; the bay was becalmed when they arrived. The settlement of Santa Marta (GeoNames) stands ashore. Same exposure caveats as the rest of this coast: fine in settled weather, poor in a strong northerly (Club Cruceros). No services.
