Uncle Roddy's Beach Bar Anchorage

17° 35.0′ N · 61° 48.7′ W · approximate

A sand anchorage inside the reef in Coral Group Bay off Uncle Roddy's beach bar and Barbuda Cottages. The water is calm and shallow, and the beach bar is a short dinghy hop away.

Practical

Coordinate approx: placed about 220 m off the Coral Group Bay shore east of River (OpenStreetMap coastline) in the area cruisers describe off Roddy's; call the bar to confirm the current spot. Sand in about 3.5 m (11-12 ft) with adequate holding, sheltered behind the reef, with easy dinghy access but rocks and coral to watch for (noforeignland). Enter through the reef only with the sun high or with local guidance. The moorings that marked the old Coral Group mooring area before Hurricane Irma are probably gone (barbudaful). A 2019 cruiser described the nearby Boat Harbour as coral with many more heads than Navionics shows, and very swelly; a catamaran was wrecked there that year. Barbudaful says yachts can now moor close to the beach at Roddy's, or the bar will send a taxi to collect you from another anchorage. Uncle Roddy's is open every day except Monday, 11am-10pm.

Best for

Lunch or sundowners at Roddy's, with calm water in the lee of the reef
