Terre-de-Haut Mooring Field (Les Saintes)

The main mooring field in the Baie des Saintes, strung along the waterfront of Le Bourg (Mouillage) and Fond Curé, with Fort Napoléon on the hill above and the red-roofed village a short dinghy ride away. It is the clearance stop and the base for exploring the whole archipelago.

Practical

Position is Noonsite's mooring-field waypoint (15°52.11'N 61°35.10'W). The fields are run by Les Saintes Multiservices (LSM), 3 rue Jean Calot, VHF 8, tel +590 590 81 53 57; office hours Mon-Sat 9am-12pm and 2pm-7pm, closed Sunday and bank holidays (Noonsite, Feb 2024). Noonsite counts four fields: two off the town, one north of Pointe Bois Joli (Pain de Sucre) and one off the SW side of Ilet a Cabrit. Moorings are white with a large metal ring on top (easy to pick up, but the ring can knock the hull when the wind dies); only 3-4 buoys take larger yachts, so call ahead. Fees are by length: Noonsite gives about EUR 15/day with weekly discounts; cruisers reported EUR 13/night for 42 ft (2018), EUR 15 for 50 ft (2016) and EUR 70/week for 12 m (Nov 2019), payable at LSM or to the LSM dinghy, and a paid boat may move between fields - verify locally. A 2026 French report gives a 7-day maximum stay in high season. Anchoring is not permitted in or near the mooring fields and is reported to be strictly enforced; a 2019 cruiser confirmed anchoring is allowed outside the yellow markers, in deeper water. Arrive early - fields are often full by midday in season. The field is rolly from ferry wakes starting about 5am and from fishing and tour boats. Garbage pickup for a small charge (call VHF before 8am); LSM delivers bread at 8am and can arrange water at the ferry dock. Dinghy dock at the town pier. Dinghies have been stolen from the dinghy dock (Jan 2024) - lock and lift at night.
