Sea Turtle Nesting Season (Anguilla)
18° 14.1′ N · 63° 4.2′ W · approximate
Sea turtles nest on Anguilla's quieter north-coast beaches, and the Anguilla National Trust has run night-time Turtle Patrols on Blackgardens Bay, Limestone Bay and Mimi Bay.
Practical
Coordinate approx: Limestone Bay (the same point as the Limestone Bay Reef entry). Turtle Patrol listing (2016): nightly in September and October, 7:30pm to midnight, US$50 per adult or US$20 per child under 12 for unlimited nights; sightings not guaranteed. Book through the Anguilla National Trust at least 48 hours ahead; contact numbers on its site conflict, so verify locally. On nesting beaches at night use no white lights, keep dinghies off the beach and give hatchlings a clear run to the sea. Turtles are also commonly seen snorkelling along the Crocus Bay to Little Bay cliffs.
