Prickly Pear Island (Antigua)

17° 10.6′ N · 61° 47.9′ W

A tiny islet about 650 m off Hodges Bay on the north coast, ringed by reef, with a small beach club; it marks the western side of the channel into North Sound.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap islet. About 50 m across (Wikipedia). Snorkelling around Prickly Pear is part of North Sound's tour circuit; NEMMA surveys found reefs near Prickly Pear in better condition than some others in the sound. The Prickly Pear Beach Club at Hodges Bay operates here (OSM, Wikipedia). For the channel, pass between Prickly Pear and Beggar's Point favouring Prickly Pear (ABYMA): see the Parham Harbour Approach passage. Inside the NEMMA marine reserve.
