Parham Harbour

17° 7.1′ N · 61° 46.1′ W

A well-protected harbour on the north-east coast enclosed by Crabbs Peninsula and Long Island, off the old town of Parham, Antigua's first capital and port. Now mostly a fishing harbour and a quiet base for exploring North Sound's islands.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap named-bay node. Enter by the marked channel from off Maiden Island in daylight only (Noonsite, AMG): the channel is marked by two red balls just off Maiden Island. A small hurricane hole in the mangroves on the south-east side has a dredged entrance of about 6 ft (2 m); a jetty east of Myers Cove has about 5 ft at its end. Plentiful anchoring room. Parham has small shops for staples, bars and a quayside fish market; fuel and water are available but dockage is limited and may mean rafting alongside a fishing boat (ABYMA). Buses run from Parham to St John's East Bus Station from morning to late afternoon. Noonsite (updated Dec 2020) says Parham's Covid-era port-of-entry status was removed; ABYMA still lists a customs post: check before relying on it.
