Guiana Island (Grape Bay)
17° 7.5′ N · 61° 43.7′ W
The largest island in North Sound (about 600 acres), with Grape Bay, a palm-lined beach a short dinghy ride from the Great Bird anchorage; now subject to an exclusion zone after its sale to a developer.
Practical
Position is the island (OSM). ABYMA: approach Grape Bay from the south to avoid the coral rim with black sea urchins; but it also warns that, following the island's purchase by a developer, an exclusion zone is in place and the coastguard may ask you to move on. Check before landing. Kayak tours run in the mangroves off Guiana and Pelican Islands (NEMMA). All beaches in Antigua are public land to the high-water mark (ABYMA).
Best for
Viewing from the water; landing only if permitted
