Pain de Sucre Moorings (Les Saintes)

15° 51.9′ N · 61° 35.8′ W · approximate

A quieter mooring field tucked under the Pain de Sucre, the basalt-column 'sugarloaf' on the west side of the bay - many cruisers' favourite spot in Les Saintes, with snorkelling straight off the stern and the sunset behind Terre-de-Bas.

Practical

Position approx: in Anse Devant, east of the Pain de Sucre headland (OSM bay node 15.86408,-61.59754); Noonsite places this LSM field 'north of Pointe Bois Joli'. LSM moorings, VHF 8, same fees as town (paid once, you may move between fields). Cruisers report water clean enough to run a watermaker and to swim/snorkel off the boat (2015). The nearby hotel let cruisers use its dock to land on the beach; walking to town is about 1.5 miles, or dinghy around the headland. A charter guide notes the field fills in season - arrive early. About 2 nm by water from the town moorings. Pain de Sucre and its bay are a classified protected site.
