Hurricane Season (St Barth)
17° 53.8′ N · 62° 51.0′ W · approximate
Atlantic hurricane season runs 1 June to 30 November, peaking August-September; Hurricane Irma devastated St Barth in September 2017, and the island has no hurricane hole for yachts.
Practical
Position is Gustavia (approx). Gustavia is open to the west and Colombier/Fourchue are open roadsteads - none is a storm refuge. Most boats leave for the south (Grenada/Trinidad) or haul out in hurricane-rated yards on St Martin, Antigua or Guadeloupe per insurer requirements; there is no established off-season liveaboard community on St Barth. Many restaurants and hotels close from late summer until the season reopens in mid-November. The rainy season is roughly May to November.
