Gustavia Harbour

17° 53.8′ N · 62° 51.0′ W · approximate

The U-shaped inner harbour of St Barth's Swedish-era capital, lined with stern-to superyachts and a quay that puts you steps from Le Select, the duty-free boutiques and the island's only clearance office. It is the hub for provisioning, fuel arrangements and every regatta on the island.

Practical

Position is the middle of the inner basin, derived from the OpenStreetMap coastline (approx). Call 'Port de Gustavia' on VHF 12 before entering; the port asks for contact before you enter the access channel, and the speed limit in the channel is 3 knots. Berthing on the quay is stern-to on your own anchor (Mediterranean style); the port can take yachts up to about 60 m LOA, and boats are asked to email dates in advance (portdeplaisance@portdegustavia.fr) because quay space fills in high season (December to April). Fees are charged by length, location and length of stay: lowest at anchor in the outer harbour, higher on inner-harbour moorings, highest stern-to on the quay; you pay when you clear out (verify current tariff at the capitainerie). Harbour reported 6-15 m deep with good sand holding but weed patches. A north or west swell can make the inner harbour surgy but rarely dangerous. Toilets at the capitainerie, practically no showers; laundry and gourmet minimarkets in town; bigger supermarkets (Super U, AMC) need a taxi or a long walk. No fuel dock inside the marina itself - see Gustavia Fuel Dock (Public).
