Gueule Grand Gouffre
16° 0.1′ N · 61° 16.0′ W
A 50-metre-deep collapsed sinkhole on the north-coast cliffs that opens to the Atlantic through a sea-carved arch - the island's most dramatic natural site, with surf booming through the gap.
Practical
Position is the OSM sinkhole node (Section Cambrai, Saint-Louis). About 50 m high, connected to the sea by an arch, with views over the sea and the cliffs (tourist office). Reached by road from Saint-Louis (car/scooter); paths near the edge are unfenced - keep well back. Combine with Caye Plate and Anse du Coq on the same coast.
