Anse Canot (Marie-Galante)

15° 59.0′ N · 61° 18.5′ W · approximate

A crescent of white sand under limestone cliffs just north of Saint-Louis, reachable mainly by boat or a coastal trail - the archetypal Marie-Galante beach anchorage, busy with day-trip catamarans at lunch and nearly empty by evening.

Practical

Position approx: in the water off the OSM Anse Canot beach (15.98185,-61.30562), about 1.8 nm NNE of the Saint-Louis anchorage, checked against the OSM coastline. Sand anchorage; no services beyond small drink stands and mobile snack vendors (charter blog). A cruising couple used the beach barbecue pits and thatched shelters in the evening and stayed through thundershowers. Lunch excursions run from Guadeloupe, so expect company midday. Start of the 9 km Vieux-Fort trail. Pointe Fleur d'Épée's limestone cliffs close the north end. Exposed to northerly and westerly swell.

Best for

A beach night with barbecue pits ashore
