Grand Ilet Seamount
15° 50.2′ N · 61° 35.0′ W · approximate
A submerged mount off the east side of Grand Îlet rising from a 25 m base to 5 m below the surface, covered in sponges, gorgonians, corals and Antillean reef fish - a remarkable underwater site inside the Les Saintes nature reserve.
Practical
Position approx: east of the island (French Wikipedia gives only 'east of the island'; island summit at 15.83515,-61.58704 in OSM) - the exact pinnacle position is not published, so go with a local dive centre rather than hunting for it. Top at 5 m means snorkellers can see it only in flat calm; the east side faces the open Dominica Passage swell. Grand Îlet is owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral and part of the Les Saintes réserve naturelle (IUCN IV) - do not land among nesting seabirds; no anchoring on coral.
