Carpenters Rock Dive Site

16° 59.9′ N · 61° 45.1′ W · approximate

A series of underwater ridges and valleys of coral-covered boulders below the cliffs east of the English Harbour entrance, known for schools of fish, reef sharks and eagle rays.

Practical

Pin is approximate: placed offshore below the Carpenter's Trail (OSM route centre) on the coast between Charlotte Point and the Blockhouse, where Dockyard Divers and DiveCarib describe the site as lying east of English Harbour between Nanton Point and Stoney Cove. Depth 20-60 ft (DiveCarib) or 45-80 ft (Dockyard Divers). Entirely exposed to the Atlantic, so it is dived only in calm weather, as a drift. Dockyard Divers described a shallow 'aquarium' in the top 20 ft with big schools of sergeant majors and chub, plus swim-throughs and frequent queen angelfish.

Best for

A colourful drift dive when the south coast is calm

Season
