Carlisle Bay Anchorage (Antigua)

17° 0.8′ N · 61° 50.0′ W · approximate

A palm-lined bay on the south coast below the rainforest-covered Shekerley hills, calm and pretty in normal trades, with the Carlisle Bay resort ashore.

Practical

Pin is placed in the bay about 300 m off Carlisle Bay Beach (OSM) and checked to be in water. ABYMA: the shore is lined with coral but the centre has a clear bottom and it is calm unless the wind is out of the east (more south-easterly); a lovely lunch spot, but uncomfortable overnight when the swell gets up. Noforeignland users rate it highly. Fig Tree Drive and the rainforest trails are inland.

Best for

A scenic south-coast lunch stop or settled-weather overnight

Season

Settled weather; rolly in swell
