Morris Bay (Curtain Bluff)

17° 0.8′ N · 61° 50.8′ W · approximate

The bay beside the Curtain Bluff Resort in Old Road, with a palm-fringed beach and water kept calm and clear by Cades Reef offshore.

Practical

Pin is placed off Morris Bay (OSM named bay) and checked to be in water. Antigua Marine Guide: a secure anchorage for large yachts, but shoaling keeps boats well off the beach. Just south round the bluff, the other side of the resort is swell-affected when the wind is south of east and the weedy bottom gives poor holding (AMG, ABYMA). Curtain Bluff: ask about the day pass; dinner reservations required with a dress code (ABYMA mentions jacket and tie for men); +1 268 462 8400. Gina's Cook Shop on the roadside at Morris Bay sells barbecue, fruit and coconut water. Buses run regularly to Jolly Harbour on the main road. Night approach warning: do not confuse the Curtain Bluff lights with the English Harbour leading lights (ABYMA).
