Mount Pantokrator Hike

39° 44.9′ N · 19° 52.3′ E

Corfu's highest summit (906 m) has a monastery, a café and a view over the whole island, Albania and, on very clear days, Italy 130 km away. The classic walk starts in the semi-abandoned Venetian village of Old Perithia.

Practical

Coordinate is the summit (OpenStreetMap). From Old Perithia about 2 hours round trip (Wikipedia); the Spartylas route is part of the 200 km Corfu Trail, which runs the island from near Kavos to the Agia Ekaterini headland in about 10 days (The Corfu Trail). A road also reaches the top. The current summit church dates from about 1689; the monastery holds a pilgrimage 1–6 August (Wikipedia, Greeka). Go early in the day and carry water. From the boat: taxi from Kassiopi or Agios Stefanos.

Best for

Half-day hike for the island's biggest view
