Molos Bay (Hydra)
37° 19.6′ N · 23° 24.8′ E
A small, pine-backed bay of white pebbles on Hydra's north-west coast — the go-to escape when Hydra harbour is too cramped, even in most northerlies.
Practical
Sailingissues anchorage marker. Good holding; pebble beach and pine trees ashore. A good alternative in most northerly winds, but in strong NNW winds move round to Bali. The approach from the west is difficult — islets, rock formations and reefs; come in from the north-east and con carefully. Several old jetties ('molos') lie outside the bay. Ashore the beach is remote and unorganised (no facilities), 7 km from town — about 70 minutes on foot, or by water taxi. Forest here survived the 2007 fire.
Best for
Peaceful night at anchor in northerlies near Hydra town
Season
Good in moderate northerlies; not in strong NNW
