Bali Cove (Hydra)

37° 18.8′ N · 23° 22.8′ E

A minute, often-overlooked cove on Hydra's north-west tip, hidden behind Petasi islet — room for two or three yachts, sand bottom and not a beachgoer in sight.

Practical

Sailingissues anchorage marker (rated a 'truly must-see' venue in its Hydra/Argolic itineraries). All-round shelter in practice — even in WSW winds it is surprisingly secluded — though NE and SW winds can bring in a swell. Anchor in 3–6 m on sand (good holding) and run a second anchor or line onto the rocks. Room for only 2–3 boats, so arrive early. The recommended refuge when strong NNW winds make Molos uncomfortable. About 5 nm from Hydra harbour.
