Hydra Pine Forest Wildfire Risk

Hydra's only pine forest, on the west of the island, burned in June 2024 after fireworks were fired from a yacht — a reminder that the Saronic summer is fire season.

Coordinate approx: placed on west Hydra, where the pine woods around Molos, Bisti and Agios Nikolaos stand; sources do not give the exact burned area. Never use fireworks, flares or open flames aboard or ashore in summer; barbecues on beaches are a fire risk. Report smoke on VHF 16 or 112.
