Makris Gialos & Mikro Nisi
37° 53.2′ N · 20° 43.4′ E
The rocky coast either side of Makris Gialos is riddled with small underwater caves, tunnels and colourful concretions; Mikro Nisi, the islet-headland to the north, is the best stretch.
Practical
zanteisland.com recommends two days of snorkelling here, one on each headland, with an underwater torch for the caves and tunnels. Coordinate is Mikro Nisi rock (OpenStreetMap). Reefs extend east from the headlands, so keep the yacht off and go by dinghy or swimming. Watch for tripper-boat traffic heading to the Blue Caves.
Best for
Cave and tunnel snorkelling from the Makris Gialos anchorage
