Koukoumitsa Islet (Vonitsa)

38° 55.5′ N · 20° 54.1′ E

A large anchorage off the east side of Koukoumitsa, the small islet joined to Vonitsa by a causeway. It gives all-round shelter except from the north, with the castle and town a short dinghy ride away.

Practical

Royal Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation feedback on Noonsite: depths 6-8 m in the middle of the bay, shoaling to 3 m nearer the shore. Holding in mud is patchy and can take a few attempts, but is OK once dug in, and may be better closer to the islet; the RCC boat lay to 60 m of chain in 6.5 m through a Force 7. mySea gives 3 m over sand with good holding at this spot. Land the dinghy at the landward end of the causeway and walk into town, or dinghy round the islet to the town quay. Exposed to N.

Best for

Secure anchoring for a gulf blow, with Vonitsa ashore
