Alykes Bay

37° 50.8′ N · 20° 46.4′ E · approximate

A wide, sandy bay on the north-east coast backed by the twin resorts of Alykes and Alykanas, with salt pans behind the beach. In settled weather you can anchor off the long beach, but it offers little shelter.

Practical

Coordinate is in the bay off Alykanas beach, derived from OpenStreetMap (approximate). SailingIssues: an open bay with meagre shelter; berths in the small harbour at the south-east end (Agia Kyriaki, breakwater at 37.8447, 20.7801 on OpenStreetMap) are reserved for local fishing boats; the even shallower port of Kavos is no better. Open to N and E. Ashore: supermarkets, bakeries and tavernas in Alykes and Alykanas (zanteisland.com), daily buses to Zakynthos Town, and boat trips to the Blue Caves. The Neraida taverna at the eastern end of the beach is recommended for traditional dishes (Wikivoyage).
