Afternoon Maistro (NW Breeze)
37° 48.0′ N · 20° 45.0′ E · approximate
In summer a cool north-westerly breeze, the local 'mistral' or maistro, fills in every early afternoon and blows down the island from north to south, dying away at dusk.
Practical
zanteisland.com: rain is rare from May to October and the wind rises in the early afternoon from the north. SailingIssues: the prevailing wind is NW, sometimes a violent NE; strong S–SE winds are mainly a winter and early-spring risk and make Zakynthos town quay uncomfortable. Practical effects: go to the west-coast caves, Navagio and the Blue Caves in the morning; expect late-afternoon gusts down the valleys at Agios Nikolaos and night-time katabatics at Porto Vromi. Coordinate is the island centre (Wikipedia), approximate.
