Agios Sostis Harbour

37° 42.9′ N · 20° 51.9′ E · approximate

A small harbour on the west side of Laganas Bay, tucked behind the pine-covered Cameo islet, used by turtle-spotting boats and motorboat rentals. It sits in the marine park's Zone C, so it is one of the few places in the bay where a visiting yacht may stop.

Practical

Coordinate is the basin between the two piers mapped on OpenStreetMap (derived, approximate). SailingIssues: the eastern basin usually has some free berths. No published depths, fees or services; verify on arrival and expect it to be busy with tripper boats in summer. Ashore (OpenStreetMap): mini-markets and a supermarket in Agios Sostis village, tavernas along the beach road, a slipway at the harbour. Speed limit 6 knots inside the marine park; turtles surface in the harbour approaches, so keep a lookout. Marine park rules (SailingIssues, zanteisland.com, ARCHELON), in force 1 May–31 October: Zone A – no entry, mooring or anchoring, marked by yellow circular buoys 75 m apart; Zone B – entry allowed at 6 knots maximum, no mooring or anchoring; Zone C – 6 knots maximum, anchoring allowed, conical buoys 150 m apart. No spearfishing anywhere in the park.
