Volos is the one place on this coast for a full shop: supermarkets, bakeries and markets are a short walk from the town quay. Pelion's fruit, spoon sweets, herbs and olives make good additions.
Practical
Sail Aegean's base map marks the nearest supermarket (Galaxias), a pharmacy and an ATM next to the charter meeting point. Supermarket hours: Mon–Fri 8:00 am–9:00 pm, Sat 9:00 am–8:00 pm, closed Sunday. Other shops open Mon, Wed and Sat 9:00 am–2:00 pm, and Tue, Thu and Fri 9:00 am–2:30 pm and 5:30–9:00 pm. Sail Aegean can deliver a pre-ordered provisioning list to the boat for a small charge. The Volos Eastern Anchorage is handy for supplies and an inexpensive fuel station (Grecosailor). Stock up here: the small villages down the gulf have only mini-markets. The position is approximate, behind the town quay.
