Volos Port / Town Quay

39° 21.6′ N · 22° 56.6′ E

The working heart of the Pagasetic Gulf: a big commercial and ferry port whose waterfront promenade (Argonafton) is lined with tsipouradika. Charter yachts lie stern-to in the inner basin a few steps from shops, bus station and ferries to the Sporades.

Practical

Grecosailor gives draught about 6 m and lists shops, chandleries, fuel and gas nearby; sailors rate it a fantastic stop for provisioning and a layover. Berthing is managed by the port authority company OLV S.A.: port dues follow a ministerial tariff and are collected by OLV's port operations department (tel +30 2421 316160, limenikateli@port-volos.gr) on working days, and by the Central Port Authority (Limenarchio) outside office hours. Amounts are not published on the page, so verify locally. OLV runs water and electricity pillars on the Central and Western Beach quays and on the breakwater, charged per its price list (OLV office Mon–Fri 8:00 am–2:00 pm, tel +30 2421 316150). Charter fleets (Sail Aegean, Kavas) base here and on the marina. Yachts returning to base are asked to be in by 5:00 pm the day before check-out. Keep clear of the ferry and hydrofoil berths for Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos.
