Thanos & Evgatis Bays (SW Lemnos)

39° 50.6′ N · 25° 7.9′ E

A chain of wild sandy bays along Lemnos' south-west coast between Myrina and Kontias, with crystal-clear water and few visitors.

Practical

Coordinate is the Evgatis southern bay (Grecosailor): approach from the centre and anchor on the large sand patch in 4–5 m; secluded and calm. Evgatis main bay (39.8495, 25.1201) held through 20 kn with 40 kn gusts but gives little protection from northerlies. Thanos Beach (39.8402, 25.0786): sand in 6 m with 60 m chain, sand and rock patches closer in. A small inlet further west ('NS Bay', 39.8351, 25.0513): stay central over the large sand patch, 4–5 m, very peaceful. Avoid Stivi (39.8393, 25.0678): rocks near the surface at the entrance and poor shelter.

Best for

Quiet south-coast anchorages a short hop from Myrina

Season

Northerlies OK in the south bays; open to S
