Seskli Islet
36° 31.3′ N · 27° 52.2′ E
An uninhabited islet off Symi's southern tip, owned by the Panormitis monastery, with a confined anchorage in Skomisa bay behind Koulountros (lighthouse) and Artikonisi. The water is clear and there is a Pelasgian wall near the summit.
Practical
Sailing Issues: vulnerable to NE–SW; anchor in 4–7 m over sand with some rocks and pebbles (pin). Mind the low rock and shallow area inside Skomisa bay, and the Koutsoumpi rock and reefs covering the east and NE. Some guides report bad holding (mySea: sand and rock, holds badly), though the author rode out a mild meltemi without dragging. The L-shaped pier is used by the Poseidon tripper boat and is too shallow for regular yachts; the tourists leave after about 4 pm. Natura 2000 site and Important Bird Area (IBA 169) with Symi: Cory's shearwaters breed here. Ancient Teutloussa, where the Athenian fleet hid after its defeat off Knidos in 411 BC (Thucydides).
