Anchorage· Psathoura· Greece — Dodecanese, Sporades & North Aegean

Psathoura Mandraki & lighthouse

39° 29.5′ N · 24° 10.8′ E · approximate

The northernmost island of the park: a low volcanic islet with one of the tallest lighthouses in the Aegean (28.9 m, built 1895 by French engineers with Skopelos stonemasons) and sand dunes that bloom with sea daffodils in summer.

Practical

Approximate: placed off the south side of the island (Wikipedia island centre 39.498, 24.181); Sailing Issues gives no coordinate — confirm on the chart. Zone A2: yachts may anchor ONLY in the south bay (Mandraki), between sunrise and sunset, and land only on the beach within 50 m of the shore; no sport fishing within 1.5 nm. Sandy anchorage close to the beach and dunes. Hazards: a reef around Miga (Psathonisi) islet south of the anchorage, and a reef extending east from the island — keep 0.4 nm off. Light: one 1-second flash every 10 seconds. Submerged ruins of an ancient city lie off the north coast; harbour porpoises have been seen nearby. About 10 nm shorter than Planitis from Chalkidiki (Sailing Issues).
